JH Partners Conquer Helvellyn
11th February 2011
Weather conditions - Damp, Overcast, Gloomy and Damn Right Miserable
As part of JH Partners philiosphy we strive to ensure our team are a close knit unit. To ensure we achieve this we frequently organise and participate in team building exercises. One most recent excursion was the conquering of Helvellyn situated within the beautful countryside of the English Lake District.
The day began with an early start to a 'lets just say' nice day for ducks. Hiking commenced around 09:00hrs and it was clearly evident from the outset the lack of mobility amongst the elder members of the team "this was going to be along day" said one of the juniors. The summit was reached around midday after a treacherous ascent of the ever daunting Swirral Edge. The sight that awaited us was less than expected and somewhat disappointing although the welcome break and hot cup of coffee soon enlightened our spirits for the long and arduous trek back to the team pub.
After numerous refreshments in the local drinking establishments the team soon were raring to go for what I can only say as an eventful evening in and around the streets and local establishments of Keswick. The night was now in full swing and the health and welfare of the team soon deteriorated by the hour. The dancing antics of the elder members soon had the younger members of the team reeling at their inability to 'bust a move', with one member claiming and I quote "it's like being out with your dad". The night drew to a close and it was not long before everyone was tucked away dreaming of what can only be described as an eventful and interesting fun day. That said the evening continued into the early hours of the morning for the younger generation who continued to hunt down and ultimately fail with the rewards being offered by the local female delegation.
The next planned excursion is scheduled for April 2011, watch this space for a further insight into the trial and tribulations of JH Partners..............
